B-ball

The boys have been really into basketball lately. We have a hoop in their upstairs play room. Jasper got really good at throwing the ball into the hoop. Jacob has been loving throwing his toys in the hoop from his toy chest. I was downstairs when it first happened and thought they were completely destroying the upstairs. No... Just paying "b-ball." That's what they call it "b-ball."

So one night, Jasper was throwing a foam b-ball up over the windows so it would fall behind the curtains in their room. I thought it would be a good idea to get them one of those cheap door hoops.

Joy and I picked up one up. They love it!! In the picture, Jasper was playing making hoops (really making hoops!!), I was rebounding, and Jacob was wrapped in a blanket cheering.

As soon as Jasper made a hoop or got close he would yell "yes!!!!". After he made a hoop, I gave him two fives, then Jacob gave him a five, and later on when mommy came in the room, she gave fives.

The lies it takes to obtain fish

Last weekend, Joy was cleaning out the cellar under the steps and found our fish tank. So we got gold fish for the boys.

It was crazy getting the fish. We stopped at one pet store and we asked bottom feeders. The salesperson asked Joy questions about our tank. Since the tank was set up right before we left for the per store, they wouldn't sell us any fish. The sales person said it needs to be set up for 24 hours before we add fish.

We went to another pet store. I asked a question about the bottom feeders. The sales person started asking me a bunch of questions and I messed up and said that we set up the tank that morning. So the salesperson wouldn't sell me any fish. Instead, she handed me a bunch of pamphlets.

So naturally, we hit up another pet store. This time I had a better plan. No questions! I walked in, got a salesperson to get me three gold fish and I left.

The boys love the goldfish. They spent most of the night watching them.

Update: one fish dead.

Zoo!!

Sunday was first nice-ish day we had in awhile. So we took the boys to the zoo. We psyched them up to see bears the day before.

I woke up to someone, I think Jasper peeking out the door and him telling Jacob "huh!! Daddy!!! See!!!" And pointing so Jacob knew I was home today. So sweet!!!

When I got up, they remembered about the zoo both told me to take a shower. They got dressed and ready to go in a hurry. They were so excited to see bears!!!!

They behaved so good when we got to the zoo. We took a long walk to the bears. I ended up holding Jacob and Joy had Jasper.

Most of the bears were awake! Jacob was so excited!!! Jasper seemed a little scared at first.

One bear was on the edge sticking his tongue out and playing in the snow.

We took the bus to see the monkeys and aquatics. I sat next to Jasper. He had his own seat and so excited about it. However, we had a stop where tons of people came on the bus. I had Jasper sit on my lap, which he was not too happy about.

The boys loved the aquatics. "Oh wow!" "Cool!" There weren't many people there, so we let them roam a bit. I stayed with Jasper, who spent most of the time at one tank. Jacob dragged Joy all around. They both loved the sharks!!!

When we left there, the boys were more into running around than looking at anything else.

They weren't too happy with us not taking bus back... But all-in-all it was a fun trip!!

Working on Valentine's Day Card

Saturday, we worked on a Valentine's Day card for mom mom. My original thought was I'm gonna try to guide them to cut out hearts on paper. That didn't really work. Joy brought in paints and said she likes their water colors. They painted papers and then themselves. I cut out hearts but when it was time to glue them, Jasper insisted that hearts weren't cut right and cut them into pieces. Tonight, I'm going to give it another go and I have a different plan... Hope it works out!!
