Zoo and Toy store freak out

Since the last post. We went to the zoo. We let them walk around and for some reason they kept getting too excited and fall down. We had some scrapped knees.

I was really excited to show the animals. We have been naming the animals on their bedroom wall and I was really excited to see their reaction in person. Jacob said "giraffe" at one point last week. I was so proud of him.

However, the boys were more interested in rocks than animals! Hehe. They have been going through a rock thing lately. They have been picking up rocks to take home. I think we will have a rock collection soon!

We took the boys to Target to get manga doodles. Joy thought it would be a good toy for them. I picked up the manga doodles and showed them. I then went down the "Toy Story" aisle. There I experienced the first toy store freak out. Joy was looking around else where in the store. When we met, she saw the boys freaking. She took Jasper out of the cart and they walked back to the toys. Jacob helped me push cart back. In the end, we put the magma doodles back, we picked up two Buzz Lighyears, and all was right with the world.

Last Friday, Jasper started exploding with words. We were in their playroom upstairs and he handed me a magnetic letter "E." He responded by saying "E." Then we went around the room naming things and he repeated. It was awesome.

Jacob is big into the word "no." If you ask him anything his response is usually "um, no!" or just "no!" I make him laugh when I respond with "yesss!"

Teething again!?

It got cold! I got a feeling we will be in for a long winter. We didn't get to take the boys to any parks this week. Instead, we spend most of our time in doors with the boys.

Teething has been taking it's toll on the boys. They have been a little more irritable and quick to cry or fight with each other.

Jasper has had the most trouble trying to go sleep at night. It's probably because I pulled him from his crib and brought him into our bedroom and tried to get him to go sleep. We then tried watching some tv but after that it seemed like sleep wasn't going to happen. I ended up rocking him to sleep in the dining room in the dark, just like the old days. Like a switch, he was on and off, passed out. Didn't even wake him putting him back in his crib.

Jacob has been doing great with sleeping. Except for last night, he was usually out on his second bottle. He's then been getting up early and spending some one-on-one time Joy before Jasper got up.

Joy's mom spend the weekend over. Saturday, Joy and I went out for a date. We went to the ledges to hike. We even got lost. It felt really nice. It was great spending some alone time with Joy and at the ledges. Such an amazing place!

This weekend, we're going to my parents' house for a family get together.

So, I'm not sure what do to about the boys room to keep it warm. Last year, I put plastic on the windows, but I did it on the outside. Eventually it fell off. I think possibly because I didn't clean the frames well, where the tape went. A lot of cold air comes in from closet so I put a towel at the bottle last night. That seemed to help some. We're thinking of getting a space heater to it warmed before bed but turn it off when they do. We don't need no accidental fires!

The boys are still loving their toys! They get so much enjoyment and even play independently with them.

One the toys is a farm. I was playing with Jacob and putting a small stuffed bear in the window and then have him walking out the door. He got such a kick out of it, last night he was doing it himself!

We also have an animal puzzle, where when you match the correct animal it makes that animals' sound. Last night, Jasper matched up the cow all by himself! He was doing it like it was nobody's business but he did like the applause he got.

Climbing!

The boys have learned to climb. Jasper can now climb onto the couch. He is so proud of himself, he wants to do it all the time. The only problem is that he wants to climb up and jump. So this week we have been constantly informing him that he needs to "sit on his booty." I think it's getting better but still scary that he would fall and break something.

Joy had gotten rid of one of their toy boxes in living room. She kept the big trunk full of toys. So now both Jacob and Jasper managed to climb not only into the trunk but on top of the trunk and holding onto the couch. The trunk is located on the back end of the couch.

Over the weekend, we took the boys to toys r us to spend birthday money from their great grandma. We got them bought stuffed dinosaurs which they loved to pieces. They now have them in their cribs.

Jacob is really into helping with cleaning. He loves to play with our broom and when he has a rag he wipes things. So while we were at the store we bought him a toy broom. We didn't think Jasper would be too into it so we got just one for them to share.

Then we got home and Jasper loved the broom! The boys had a fight over causing us to go back to toys r us to grab another broom.

Father's day was relaxed but we did manage to go to the cuyahoga valley national park for a walk by a lake. We spend most of the day at home. I think we all were beat after the vacation the weekend before.

Growing, speaking, moving, and stealing

Over the weekend we had to lower the cribs. The boys are starting to try to pull themselves up and we don't want them to learn while in their cribs when we're not there. After we lowered them, Joy put them in and had them standing, leaning on the railing. They got the biggest kick out of it. Jasper enjoyed falling down on his butt after awhile, Jacob not so much.

A couple days ago I went to get Jasper out if his crib. While doing so, I started saying/singing "good morning!" over and over. Then Jasper mumbled out something resembled "good morning." I was stunned. Joy said he is trying to mimic me. So naturally, I've been saying a lot of "good mornings."

The boys have become masters in their jeep walkers. They can both move themselves almost where ever they want to go. It's not uncommon now to be in the bathroom and then see one of the boys stroll up. They've also been getting themselves stuck in a traffic jam-like situations in the hallways.

They have also been able to play more independently on the rug with their toys. However, they've become quite jealous of each others toys. Even if they both have the same toy in hand, one will drop it and try to steal the others. This can cause tears.

One day, Jacob was working really hard to get a toy out of the toy basket. He was so determined and when he finally got it out, Jasper took it.

Although this isn't new, the boys get upset if you walk by them without saying "hello." I'll come in from work and put my stuff away and they'll get so upset if I don't stop by and play with them first thing. Although, if they're in their jeeps they can just come along.

The last couple of nights have been rough. The boys have waking up about every hour during the night screaming. I'm not sure if they're not feeling good, teeth, or what.

This morning around 6:30, Joy got up with Jasper and decided it was time for them to both be awake. She wrote out a schedule for feeding and nap times. If all goes well, we hope the boys will start to sleep better at night.

This weekend, our friends Heather and Kit are flying in from Colorado. They haven't been up since last June. I bet they'll be surprised at how much they've grown.
